John Flemming is a Partner at Carpenter & Company, where he has been a senior leader since 1991.
Over the course of his tenure, Mr. Flemming has played a central role in shaping the firm’s strategy and expanding its capabilities. With the Carpenter team, he built, managed, and supervised multiple business lines including asset management for bank regulatory agencies such as the FDIC, M&A and capital placement activities for dozens of banks, and private equity initiatives that led to the formation of the firm’s $4.9 billion bank holding company.
He has been actively engaged in the firm’s denovo bank formation efforts, which have supported the creation of more than 500 banks over the past 50 years.
Mr. Flemming serves as a director and was founding Board Chairman of Grasshopper Bank, NA, a digital-first bank based in New York City. He has served on numerous bank boards, chairing key committees such as Credit Policy, Human Resources & Compensation, Nominating & Governance and Strategic Planning.
He is a magna cum laude graduate of Harvard College and holds General Securities Principal and Representative licenses.
